Sterling Silver Lighters
The 1950's saw an explosion of lighter cases around the world designed to hold Zippo inserts but which were not manufactured by Zippo. Many of these were crafted in sterling silver, and prominent jewelers such a Tiffany designed beautiful Zippo-like cases. The lighters shown below are examples from Italy, Thailand, Mexico and Guatemala. Lovely sterling lighters were also made in Japan and Peru. Sterling silver lighter with dragon made in Tai Ping, China. The reverse is engraved "1949 - Allen L Erickson". Sterling lighter with scene of 17th Century Pub on both sides. Made in Holland (?). Sterling 950 silver lighter made in Guatemala with attractive hammered finish and with gold attachments.
