Prototype Wrapped Zippos

 In addition to wrapping the Zippo case with leather, during the early 1950's Zippo also experimented with other case coverings.  The Zippos shown below are prototypes which never went into production.

Full leather prototype Zippo.  The production models have gold-leaf borders.

This is a leather-covered prototype slim Zippo dated 1955. 

This case is covered with vinyl with rubber top and bottom.

This prototype is covered with green silk.

This leather-covered "look alike"  Zippo from 1951 is covered by a brown lacquer.

This cover on this Zippo is a vinyl-like material.

This Zippo is covered with black vinyl.
