Oil Company Zippos

 

Shell Oil Company is an Anglo-Dutch oil and gas company founded in 1907.

 

1975 Zippo with the yellow and red Shell logo.

This 1951 Shell Zippo was given as a station cleanliness award in May, 1951.

 

 

 

 

 

The ESSO brand is owned by Exxon Mobil Corporation.  in 1975 Exxon formally replaced the name ESSO in the US because ESSO sounds like "S-O", the initials for Standard Oil, a competitor oil company.  Exxon also replaced the Enco and Humble brands at that time.

1957 Zippo with the Humble Oil logo.

1950 Zippo engraved with the ESSO logo and Imperial Oil Limited, a Canadian energy company.

1952-53 Zippo engraved with the ESSO logo with wings.

1960  slim Zippo with the ESSO logo and Humble Oil & Refining Company.

1972 Zippo with the Exxon Tiger.  The Tiger became a major Exxon mascot in 1959 when the slogan "Put a Tiger in Your Tank" was born.
