In 1893
a
pharmacist in North Carolina named Caleb Bradham created a
drink made of carbonated water, sugar, vanilla, rare oils,
pepsin and cola nuts which he called "Brad's Drink".
It was
renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898 after the pepsin and cola nuts.
The brand struggled in the 1920's and 30's competing with
Coca-Cola, even going bankrupt in 1923, and almost failing
again in the 1940's under the pressure of the the "Cola
Wars". However, in the 1950's its popularity grew and
today Pepsi is one of the most famous brands in the world.
The
Pepsi
logo design has changed over the years as has its
advertising on the Zippo lighter.
