Patriotic Zippos                                                                                             

Zippos with patriotic images of America's national symbols such the flag, bald eagle, liberty bell and Statue of Liberty were introduced by Zippo in 1976 in commemoration of  the 200th Anniversary of America. Some were produced in 1975 in anticipation of this important date of national celebration. Military Zippos of all branches have often included the flag and other national symbols and the National Seal were used on Presidential Zippos in the 1960's. Patriotic images on Zippo lighters have become more common in recent years as a consequence of wars and in remembrance of 9/11.

  1974 Zippo with an American flag reads  "I'm an American and I'm proud of it…To serve this wonderful country is a privilege".   1975 Zippo with multiple patriotic images depicting the 1776 themes Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Paul Revere and the Spirit of '76. The reverse is adverting the well drilling company Hahn & Schaffner Inc. of Bolivar, NY and is dated 1976.

  A patriotic ZipLight, "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" which functions as a pocket flash light.  The ZipLight, which was introduced in 1996 and discontinued in 2002, was basically an insert that fit in a regular Zippo lighter case.

  1992 Zippo Zippo with an American flag graphic that has 8 stars and 9 stripes .   The bald eagle, standing on USA against a sky of stars is America's national bird, the only eagle unique to North America, is engraved on a 1992 Zippo.     1992 Zippo with the flag on a matte black finish.  The American flag has had 50 stars since the addition of Alaska in 1959 and Hawaii in 1960.   1992 brass Zippo with an artistic rendering of the flag on map of  the contiguous USA which excludes the States of Alaska and Hawaii.
