The 1970's were the final decade during which smoking had not yet become stigmatized and major companies still used the Zippo for advertising and promotion.  By the end of the 1980's few major U.S. advertisers can be found on the Zippo.

1970 Zippo for Bancardchek - The only National checking account.

1973 Zippo for DuPont. The Company was started in 1802 by Eleuthère Irénée du Pont manufacturing gun powder.  It has since diversified into agriculture, nutrition, electronics, communications, safety and protection, home and construction, transportation and apparel.

1976 Zippo for Nikon - "The Professional's Choice". The Nikon Corporation founded in 1917 as Nippon Kogaku K.K. which became a leading manufacturer of optical lenses and precision equipment used in cameras, binoculars, microscopes and inspection equipment.

1977 Zippo with graphic for Airstream. The trailer with aero dynamical aluminum body was created by  Wallace Merle Byam, who in 1936 introduced the “Clipper,” and an American legend was born.
 

1975 Zippo for Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus World.  Ringling Bros. with the image of a fierce tiger leaping through a fiery ring. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is a famous American circus, formed when the Ringling Brothers purchased the Barnum and Bailey Circus in 1907. 

1973 Zippo for Consolidated Freightways.  The trucking was started in Portland, Oregon by Leland James in 1929.

1973 Zippo for Wrangler jeans.  A major brand in Western wear, the Company traces its origins to 1904 when C.C. Hudson bought a couple of sewing machines and started his own business.

1975 Zippo for Purina Kitten Chow.  It has the checkerboard logo of Ralston Purina, a leading animal food company started in 1894.

1984 slim Zippo for "Coldwell Banker - A member of Sears Financial Network"  The roots of Coldwell Banker date back to 1906 when Colbert Coldwell, later joined by Benjamin Arthur Banker, established a company committed to commercial real estate to become the dominant commercial real estate company across America.  Coldwell Banker was acquired by Sears in 1981 and sold it to CB Richard Ellis in 1989.
 

1976 Zippo for Motorola. Founded in 1928, Motorola has become a global leader in wireless, broadband and automotive communications technologies and electronics.

1977 slim Zippo Master Charge The Interbank Card Raytown Bank, Ratown, Missouri.  The Interbank Card Association, known as Master Charge, was founded in 1966 for the purpose of sharing the cost of bank credit card processing across many banks.

1977 slim Zippo for Parke-Davis. The company traces its history back to 1866, when Hervey Parke and George Davis formed a small company in Detroit, Michigan that became the world's largest drug manufacturer.
