Automobile Zippo - Edsel

This 1957 Zippo bears the Edsel logo.

The Edsel automobile, named after Edsel Ford, the only son of the company's founder, Henry Ford, was introduced in late 1957 with lots of fanfare. While a lot of people said they would buy, it debuted in an economic recession and few actually bought . After only three model years, 1958, 1959 and 1960, Ford Motor Company gave it up.

Today the term "buying an Edsel" has become synonymous with "buying a lemon".
